Why is it that the WWE is getting unfairly target by the media?

I have seen on TV where people are saying that wrestling should not be on because of the Benoit incident. How come when O J Simpson murdered his wife the media didn't tell people not to watch football. Or, when Ron Artest was beating the crap out of the fans at basketball game. They didn't tell fans not to watch basketball. And now you have Michael Vick killing dogs for no reason. I feel that the only reason that they are on WWE is because its WWE. Also why aren't other wrestling organizations being targeted. TNA doesn't even have a drug testing policy. This whole thing wrong. Another thing that pisses me off is the fact that when McMahon does something good like the WWE holiday special for the troops or when he's invovled with the make-a-wish foundation the media doesn't want to cover it. They dont want to talk about that, but when something bad happens they are all over McMahons case.

I'm going to draw a venn diagram for you. In one circle is people who watch WWE in the other is people who watch mainstream media. In the middle is people who will be influenced by it...get the picture.

Mate if I could give you 10 stars I would. We don't agree on Leiva, fair enough but this is an excellently written article and I agree totally. The media have and will always pick out 1 or 2 players to chastise. My logic is simple, Capello has transformed England post McLaren. I would prefer an English manager but am warming to him and if he picks GJ then I back him all the way. The only thing the English media will achieve is to knock his confidence so much that he will end up playing shi*e.

I agree. The only reason WWE is being targeted is because Chris Benoit worked for them. They had that stupid list of wrestlers wo died when only five of them were still working for the company and they weren't because of steriods. The other reason is probably because the media doesn't like wrestling and have been looking for a reason to end it for years.

Besides alot of guys on that list were old and ad other health problems. Stu Hart was 87. Lord Alfred Hayse was 93. Earthquake and Bam Bam Bigelow were overweight and Ray Traylor got cancer. Mojority of those guys weren't even wrestling.

i agree 110%

the media just doesnt like wwe because they think it is "too violent"

they are trying to find something to blame all of the violence in america on

they dont even know that thats not all the wwe is about

its entertainment

its being able to look up to somebody and to have a role model

jumping up and down and feeling awesome when your favorite wrestlers' music comes on

wwe is the wwe

and if the media doesnt like it, then they can get over it

It's the media, they jump on everything that is worth talking about, and WWE has just been the #1 thing to talk about since the Benoit thing.

Chris Benoit was one of the most well known wrestlers, and at the time he killed his wife and child, he was working for the biggest wrestling promotion out there, WWE.

I agree, but when the media latches onto something, they hold on for the death roll.

As for TNA not being targeted, that may be so, but many TNA superstars have came out to defend the sport.

It really doesn't help that every week a superstar dies either. There's been a pretty big death toll lately, you have to admit.

People are using the Benoit incident to grind their axe with the WWE. It's mostly those who don't like wrestling but doesn't have the ****** decency to leave wrestling alone!

thats true, but think about it. the wwe is one of the most popular sports and its not even real. true, boxers die, football players die, basketball players die. but its still not open that its kinda rigged, so their deaths are, like, tragedy. but wrestling is fake and we know it. so they arent supposed to die in freak accidents, because thats not in the script. people judge what they dont understand and they dont understand why people still watch wrestling. good question, by the way.
