Question:
Why does WWE refuse to put Chris Benoit in their history?
2011-08-02 18:18:03 UTC
WWE removed all traces of Chris Benoit in their history except the title reigns. Well he was a great performer and he gave a lot to the business. What he did was horrible indeed but he was still part of the company. Also this incident proved that the Wellness Program WWE previously had was bullshit. The reason why he did what he did was because he had the brain of a 85-year-old Alzheimer's patient thanks all the bumps and hits he took in pro wrestling. e was reported to have had an advanced form of dementia, similar to the brains of four retired NFL players who had suffered multiple concussions, sank into depression, and harmed themselves or others. Bailes and his colleagues concluded that repeated concussions can lead to dementia, which can contribute to severe behavioral problems.

Because that final weekend of Benoit's life brought negative attention to the WWE from every media known to man, and even brought in U.S. Government investigators and watchdogs.

There have been other pro wrestlers throughout history that have killed other people, been involved in drug scandals, spent time in prison, caused well-publicized public disturbances that got them arrested and sent to prison...but they didn't do that while they were in Vince McMahon Junior's company.

The WWE has stopped pretending Benoit never existed but they still don't advertise the fact that he was an employee for several years. Benoit gave the wrestling business, and the WWE in particular, the biggest black eye it's ever gotten. Benoit's final weekend caused Vince to drastically alter the WWE and was the beginning of Vince "cleaning house" that has led to what most fans call the "PG kiddie era" with the WWE being as squeaky-clean as it can possibly get. Benoit is the negative representation of the "anything goes" period in the WWE that Vince wants to forget.

He was never erased from WWE's history, they simply refuse to promote him, there is a huge difference, they aren't promoting a murderer, which is the right thing to do, after what he did he doesn't deserve to be promoted or brought up when it's not needed, but everything in history involving him is Still acknowledged and intact.

WWE even released an elimination chamber anthology which featured a full Benoit match(kinda proof that he wasn't erased...) and he was on the recent WCW Nitro dvd too.

WWE DO NOT refuse to put him in their history, they never took him out of it.

Because he killed his family. If he didn't kill his family, he probably get the same treatment that Eddie Guerrero got.

Chris Benoit does deserve to Hall of Famer and known as a legend in pro wrestling.

I bet Vince McMahon was probably more pissed that Chris ruined the storyline of "Who Killed Mr. McMahon". They had a 3 hour special but instead used it to pay tribute to Chris Benoit.

this is like asking why isnt oj simpson on pregame shows or commentating games anymore (prior to going to prison a few years ago) or why nobody speaks of rae curruth. your greatness and legecy can be tarnished by the choices you make away from sports or sports entertainment. nobody is going to glorify a murderer. he was one hell of a wrestler and a legend but if a guy gave your multi millon dollar company horrible publicity and had you investigated would you praise him? i know i wouldnt. i know im going to get thumbed down for this but its the truth.

When the Benoit incident happened it gave WWE horrible reputation, simple as that

And I agree it's stupid he isn't on records. He was a sure to be legend and still deserves to be one. No matter what he did to his family.

You know, that's a real great question. But I really think so is what he did to his family, but then again it could be some stupid reason saying "he didn't have good talent".
