He was ok when he was younger. But in the 8-'s he was to big and slow to do anything. I used to hate watching him. Boring matches. Kinda like watching Kozlov, Kali and Edge now.

Ric aptitude. definite, he's puffed up. He replace into by no ability the face of ANY company. He only won the WWE Championship like two times lower back interior the early ninety's. His different 14 international championships have been from now defunct wrestling businesses which by no ability had the point of recognition of the WWE. He wrestled WAYYYYY handed whilst he would desire to have retired and made a shaggy dog tale of himself interior the approach. he's a goofy little dude with a lisp who does a determine 4 leg lock and struts. How is that so impressive? maximum, if no longer all the wrestlers on the instant WWE roster have greater fairly athletic ability than Ric aptitude ever had and the only reason that i will make certain that he became so respected is that he basically does no longer retire so he had a very long occupation.

No at all. In his early days he had great agility for a guy his size. He also had great cardio and could do 45 minute matches easily. While not a great technician he had great ring psychology and new how to sell just enough so it wouldn't look too fake but at the same time give his opponents some credibility so that people would think that he could be beaten. Of course towards the end of his career he could barely move. It's unfortunate that most people only remember the Andre from WMII and up.

Most people base their opinion on the Andre they saw at the end of his career. The Andre who was ravaged by acromegaly (the disease that caused his gigantism), in so much pain he could barely stand up, much less walk without assistance.
Those people should seek out and watch matches of Andre in the 70's. Andre was quick and agile for a man of his enormous size (he could even do dropkicks then!). Andre was never a great technical wrestler (he didn't have to be), but to call him overrated is a gross injustice. Andre is one of the all-time greats.

Hey mate, i saw his match last night on WWE Vintage. He was very powerful, but he was not athletic. He went out of ring after his opponent and took several minutes to return to the ring. Damn. he is a useless wrestler. Just the size is not everything.
So yes he is overrated. Infact i think nobody cares to rate him :)

He was one of the best ever. When he wrestled Hulk Hogan, Mcmahon had to convince him to lose because there was no way anybody could beat him if he did not want to.The man didn't know his own strength he was that powerful.

Maybe he didn't have the greatest wrestling ability, but he has a role in wrestling that is irreplaceable and unique. He's a legend.
