Question:
Does mixed wrestling send a bad message?

I mean, does it, like its critics say, promote violence against women and /or is it simply an erotic fetish? Or is it good, clean wholesome entertainment? Does it empower women to be in the ring with men?

(Obviously, I'm talking about WWE/TNA here, not the erotic/quasi-pornographic stuff that's out there).

Of course not. Mixed wrestling is when a man teams up with a woman to wrestle another man and another woman. The rules of mixed wrestling are that the men only wrestle the men and the women only wrestle the women. Sure, you'll see women interfere when their male partner is being pinned and men interfere when their female partner is being pinned, but this is not legal.

You're confusing mixed wrestling (which BTW we saw on RAW Monday Night when Evan Bourne & Gail Kim wrestled Zack Ryder & Alicia Fox) with intergender wrestling. In intergender wrestling men can wrestle women & women can wrestle men. Neither WWE nor TNA do this anymore. WWE did this back in Chyna's day & came close again with Beth Phoenix in the Royal Rumble. TNA used to do it in their weekly PPV days with Mickie James (who wrestled as Alexis Laree). Even with intergender wrestling I don't think it advocates violence against women, people just have to remember that what they're watching is a production, the way a movie or TV sitcom is.

No not necessarily. Mixed wrestling is when a man wrestles a woman. The women choose to do it and there are some women who can legitimately defeat a male and there are plenty of men who can defeat winning. If a woman makes the choice to do it, it isn't necessarily bad. Some mixed wrestling videos (and it is not the WWE the person is referring to ), are faked and others are real. There are different types of mixed wrestling. They are either competitive, semi-competitive, or fantasy. Many of the women are well-trained and can kick the average joe's tail. On the other hand, there are also videos that are basically pornography (which I loathe), where they are more sexual in nature. Considering, women usually win in mixed wrestling videos I don't think it is promoting violence against women. In the old days, the woman almost always won, but now you see more videos where sometimes women win and sometimes men win. Not all women are weak, not all men are strong.
