For all the folks caught up about why HHH rushed over there, consider that Mr. McMahon's daughter is married to the chap. And calling him Paul, well, that was just a nod to the well-informed fans. Of course, it's very likely Mr. Paul Levesque, aka HHH, was one of the writers of the whole event anyway...
One can tell it was staged, not just by obvious clues (i.e., the lever before the collapse, and the strange stage construction), but by a few other things. The timing, for one. All those hours before the show wass on the air, three hours on the air, and it just HAPPENS to go off right when the show's about to end, at the most climactic point? I can understand why Vince would stand there, if it was real- a deer-in-the-headlights sort of thing. But when the medics said, "He's not conscious," and seconds later, Vince wakes up and says he can't feel his legs...
It was very well done, but it was still a worked shoot. It wasn't real. Sorry.
